Strict Rules in the NFL
What are some of your opinions on the recent controversy on some big hits in the NFL? In my opinion, I feel as the NFL is ruining the game of football. I can see the league looking out for players and possible injuries, but thats the game itself. Without big hits like that, people might as well call it soccer from now on. Now there are some hits that deserved to be reviewed but not all of them. This past Sunday, several players faced possible suspensions because of their hits. Not all of the hits were dirty, but the safety from the New England Patriots did take a cheap shot. If the NFL decides to start suspending players for playing the game how its suppose to be, football will not be football for much longer.

Honestly there are hockey players out there that take harder hits and get up and fight the accused. I am pretty sure that these big, manly, men can take a rough hit here and there. I have seen women take harder hits in football than some of the guys that limp off the field. If they are going to be such wimps about it don't play a contact, rough hitting sport. Without such aggressive playing I completely agree that these new rules and suspensions are just going to make the game boring. I do however feel that there should be some sort of punishment for cheap shots, but I do not feel as if suspension is really the answer. Maybe something like a penalty or a charged time out to the team, but not a suspension. So, let the guys play and if they have a problem with it, they can decide from there if football is really there sport.
ReplyDeleteya the league is changing and shouldnt. these rules are going to be too strict and there arent going to be anymore big hits.
ReplyDeleteFootball is going to become an extremely BORING sport if they keep changing the rules like it! If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! No one is keeping the players there (well except maybe their contracts)!
ReplyDeleteThe NFL is almost making the leage into flag football. Yes, player safety is important, but these are big, strong guys who should be able to take a hard hit. Football today is tamed down from what it used to be, go back and watch any old highlights and you will see the guys pretty much just throwing each other around.
ReplyDeleteFans watch football because of the physicality of the game. They like to see players run into each other, make the big hits. It's excitinig. If they take these out of the game, they're going to lose fans.
The NFL needs to stop helmet to helmet hits, but there is no way you can actually stop and control the way a player hits another player. Just like the Steelers players and Tomlin stated yesterday that although the rules are in place the Steelers aren't going to change who they are and the way that they play football. I dont see this turning into a big change in the way the game is played just less helmet to helmet hits and when there are those hits there may be some suspensions.
